Reality Shows The latest fad with youngsters these days is dropping out of school to become famous. They believe that a decent job can provide them with all the luxuries of life but not fame. The Generation Next wants to get recognized. They want to be in the spot light. There was a time, when to become a celebrity, you have stars telling lots of stories about how they struggled to get their first break and to get where they are etc so on and so forth. But now with Reality shows, one day you are a nobody and one stint in reality tv gets you celebrity like status. Teenagers, almost one in ten would abandon their education if they had the chance to appear on television. The excitement, the drama and the recognition are enough to attract the youngsters these days. It all started in 1995 with the famous show Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee TV. Since then, the action has just gotten bigger and bigger. And this paved the way for such shows like Pop stars on Channel V, Indian Idol and Fame Gurukul on Sony Tv, MTV Roadies, Zee Cines tars, Star Voice of India and down south on Asianet Idea Star Singer and many more. The many Reality TV shows on air, offer instant fame. With it comes, the spot light , designer wardrobe, promise of big money and a dream career as complimentary. In big cities, these instant stars are more or less ignored, but in small places they are worshipped like film stars. But the question is that, have these talent shows been able to spot any real spectacular talent? The truth is that, the so called talents, after maybe a debut song or an album which may or may not become a hit disappear from this rat race of becoming famous. Does this mean that 15 minutes of fame is what the youngsters are targeting at? You participate in a reality show, people vote for you, you become a household name, news channels run after you and you find yourself in the main stories of the leading channels and newspapers. Is that what they want? and then what? You start your journey to your city of dreams, Mumbai hoping that people will be queued - up at your doorstep to sign you on. But your dreams soon crash, when you realize that the ride isn't pleasant at all. Dejected enough you repent, but it is too late by then.
If making money is the
reason a young person wants to be famous, then by staying on in
education they can increase their future earning power by gaining these
essential qualifications. It will give them a range of options to choose
from. The only difference is that it will require little bit of hard
work. Remember some wise man once said,’ Success and money aren't always
easy to get!''
